Trip to Milan, Part I
Trip to Milan, Part II
The second day began with a gorgeous colours of a sunrise that was seen through our hotel room window. Marge woke up at a perfect time — 8 o’clock.
The view a few minutes later…
And to the left… (by the way, that jagged building on the left side is the Milan Cathedral).
We had a breakfast and headed off in the direction of the Cathedral. By the way, I can recommend you our hotel. It has a perfect location near the centre of Milan on a quiet street. And breakfast cakes were very tasty there!
We were one of the first tourists that visited the Milan Cathedral’s roof that day. No lines in wee hours and the whole roof only for us (though I guess it would be much easier to find a ticket office if there was a line).
I thought at first that the figure on the tower waves back to the man, but it actually isn’t a hand, but wings. Apparently, it’s an angel.
Just imagine, all of these spikes that embellish the roof are different!
Some more of the Cathedral square…
Corso Vittorio Emanuele — the street for pedestrians only with a Disney store, where we bought two princess dolls for our girls (by a very palatable price).
I couldn’t walk by without taking a photo of Maggie.
Corso Venezia brought us to the Museum of Italian History surrounded by a nice park. Marge slept through this walk in the sling, but later we started to put her down in her stroller, where she slept peacefully (two or three times a day!!) while my back got some rest too.
Some of the trees reminded us that despite the weather that we used to experience in a late spring in our homeland it’s actually January around.
We were walking all day and by the end of the day came to Milan channels. And I think that it’s the best place in Milan to meet a sunset and to spend an evening as it is rather quiet especially compared to the streets around the Cathedral. I believe, this place is even more beautiful in spring when channels are full with water and the city has a greener look.
We returned “home” early that day, right after the sunset, and went to sleep shortly after Marge did.
